Two inch buttons from Landen Road Designs

Two inch buttons from Landen Road Designs

I am really excited to host this give away contest from Jennifer at Landen Road Designs, our sponsor for the past week. I’m exicted for two reasons. First of all, I am using this as an excuse to take the week off from writing tutorials. But most of all, who doesn’t love buttons? Unique button collections are kind of like the hallmark of a head-over-heels-crafter. I know that I’m addicted to them, I have 8 mason jars full, sorted by color. I plan to add some of Jenn’s to the collection soon.

Jenn handmade these two inch ceramic buttons from white clay. She stamped and glazed them before kiln firing them. Each button set is one of a kind, and would be awesome to use on accessories, clothing, and as jewelry.

In order to enter the give-away contest just leave a comment to this post. It would be great if you gave us some ideas for how you’d use the buttons if you won them. The comments will close at 11:30pm on friday, October 9th. We’ll let the Random Number Generator choose our winner. Good Luck!

Passing on the Bargain
Devona | August 14, 2009 | 8:54 am

dsc_0721I made the time to stop into my favorite bargain sewing shop, Fabric and Frieght Mart in Baberton, to look for a deal. I was hoping to find some of this beautiful green fabric I ran out of over a year ago. I didn’t find the fabric in question, but I did discover this 2 gross roll of elastic under a shelf. It was priced at $3 a ROLL! Holy Cow!

I didn’t believe it was true so I grabbed it to take up to the counter. Colleen has been making her own underwear lately, and I’m sewing cloth diapers out of my old t-shirts and need to make leg casings. We could use some elastic. I thought there must be some other spool that they roll it into for the $3 a roll price, but no, the whole 2 gross roll is $3.

Since there is no way possible for Colleen and I (nor my immeditate family and friends) to use up 2,000 yards of elastic any time soon I thought I would pass some of it on to you. The first five people in the comments will get 6 arms-lengths of elastic sent to you, from me. Just make sure that you have a valid email address included in the comments form when you comment so that I can get in touch with you for your shipping address.

Heather Ross Pattern Give-Away on STC

STC Craft is giving away a Heather Ross garden gloves pattern, for free! You better believe I will be grabbing this up and making a pair. I love small projects like this because it gives you the chance to use up little bits and pieces of fabric that wouldn’t work in anything else, but are too big to toss out.

I just spent about 40 minutes google-eyed over Heather Ross’s Weekend Sewing at Barnes and Noble the other day, too. I really need to just give in and buy this book. I know I would make a million of the patterns in it, and I would learn a ton, too.

To celebrate I am giving away a small journal to a random reader. To enter just leave a comment to this post (be sure you have a valid email account) and let us know what you’ll be using the journal for if you win it. Comments to this post will be open until 11 pm Tuesday, July 21st. The winner will be randomly selected and the results posted on Wednesday.

The journal is made from recycled materials, excluding the drawing paper pages, which are new. Made with wall paper samples, upholstery samples and cereal box card stock, this is a one of a kind piece of work.

The Onion Chair

She has been offering free high resolution art on her blog to her readers. After her last give away she asked what we’d like to see next and I asked for one of her chair prints. Well, lucky me! When I logged on to my Google Reader yesterday morning I found The Onion Chair for give away until Wednesday!

Stop in and view her give away, and definitely follow her on Twitter to keep up with her work. Thanks Stephanie!
