Rachel! How did I get this winner? For every correct answer you gave, I put your name in a list, in order of the way you left your comments. Then I asked our dear friends at random.org who should get the prize, and Rachel was the winner. Great job, everyone on your guesses!
So, what were the veggies anyway? Number one is a red onion, and I took any variation on the word “onion” as a correct answer. Number two is broccoli, my favorite thing to grow. And number 3 is potatoes, which some people are surprised even has a green part to it.
The secret prize was a secret because I wasn’t sure I’d have the chance to make them. But now I know that I will have the time, so Rachel will be getting 3 stamped silverware garden tags. You can tell me what plant name you want me to stamp on there. Hope you love them!
Colleen and I joined forces to make this bib necklace. The pairing is perfect, as it uses my skills with fabric and sewing and Colleen’s excellent jewelry making skills. And check out the final result! Just the right amount of over-the-top to dress up a simple shirt and cardigan combo.
This was something we’d been talking about doing for a long time, but just needed the motivation to get it started. So, what was that motivation? We’ve entered our project in the ReadyMade magazine MacGyver Challenge. The challenge was to repurpose a necktie. Keep your fingers crossed that we win!
I meant to submit some crafty ideas to Green Craft Magazine, but it slipped my mind. I missed the latest deadline, but they’re always taking submissions for future publications (deadlines are every September & March). So, I’m now planning ahead for March! Here’s the info blurb about their submissions guidelines:
Finding creative uses for old items is nothing new to artists, but the spirit of preserving the planet is more important than ever before and GreenCraft Magazine is here to honor and inspire those who find artistic applications for normally discarded resources. GreenCraftwill provide ideas for repurposing trash to treasure by showcasing projects where waste is repurposed into ecologically chic creations. So … have you found a use for cardboard rolls left over from paper towels? Have you cut up an old T-shirt and knitted it into a purse? Have you taken a burned-out light bulb and made it into a beautiful flower vase? Have you transformed old board games into notebooks? Then we want to hear from you! Submit your recycled, reused and repurposed items to GreenCraft Magazine today! Deadline for artwork to be received: Semi-Annually every September 15 & March 15
The binary Powers-That-Be have named Rachel the winner of Jennifer’s kiln fired buttons. Rachel says, “ooh, buttons of any kind are wonderful! I have a sweater/shawl that I am knitting for my MIL and need some big artistic and different buttons.” I’m sure her Mother-in-Law will love them.
I also wanted to thank Landen Road Designs for hosting this great give-away and sponsoring Clever Nesting for the past week. Please be sure to check out Jenn’s etsy. And if you’re ever shopping in the Hartville area stop by Tween Diva to see Jenn’s work in person.
I am really excited to host this give away contest from Jennifer at Landen Road Designs, our sponsor for the past week. I’m exicted for two reasons. First of all, I am using this as an excuse to take the week off from writing tutorials. But most of all, who doesn’t love buttons? Unique button collections are kind of like the hallmark of a head-over-heels-crafter. I know that I’m addicted to them, I have 8 mason jars full, sorted by color. I plan to add some of Jenn’s to the collection soon.
Jenn handmade these two inch ceramic buttons from white clay. She stamped and glazed them before kiln firing them. Each button set is one of a kind, and would be awesome to use on accessories, clothing, and as jewelry.
In order to enter the give-away contest just leave a comment to this post. It would be great if you gave us some ideas for how you’d use the buttons if you won them. The comments will close at 11:30pm on friday, October 9th. We’ll let the Random Number Generator choose our winner. Good Luck!
This really super blogger and mom, xoelle, made a stop motion video for the HP You on You contest and she is in the semi-finals. I have been reading her for a few months and oogle-ing her crafts and I wanted to share this with you.
She handmade all the miniprops and the dress for the movie and narrates her story herself. I am truly impressed and wish her the best. Head over to the YouTube page and give her a thumbs up if you love it. I really hope she wins!
The binary powers-that-be at Random.org have dictated that comment #11 is the winner. And therefore Kristina will be recieving my hand bound journal in the mail. She plans to use it “for Bible reading notes.”
Kristina, please let us know how you like it after you’ve given it a go. I hope that it brings you great joy!
I have been practicing my book binding skillz for a few months now and have finally come up with a method that I really like. To celebrate I am giving away a small journal to a random reader. To enter just leave a comment to this post (be sure you have a valid email account) and let us know what you’ll be using the journal for if you win it. Comments to this post will be open until 11 pm Tuesday, July 21st. The winner will be randomly selected and the results posted on Wednesday.
The journal is made from recycled materials, excluding the drawing paper pages, which are new. Made with wall paper samples, upholstery samples and cereal box card stock, this is a one of a kind piece of work.
I found these blank woodgrain business cards at my Goodwill Thrift Store. I’ll never use all of them, so I’m giving some away in a little contest. The first 5 people to leave a comment with your crafty ideas for these will win a pack of 25 of them.
We are so excited to host another give-away contest here at the Nest. I want to enter (but that would be cheating) because the award is so awesome. Kim from Unemployed Designer, and our Sponsor for this week, has donated a Leather Business Card Case and a Leather Pony Tail Holder to our winner. Kim has also designed a bit of a challenge to go along with the contest so to enter read below. All of the entries should be made in our comments to this post, so be sure to leave you email address or URL so we can contact you if you are chosen as the winner. Good Luck! Read more »
