I have lots of cardboard record cases left over from the record bowls I made for Christmas gifts. Some of the pictures on the cases are really fun, so I needed a way to reuse them. I decided to make them into file folders. Supplies:
Record cases, file folders to use as a template, pencil with eraser, scissors, and clear packing tape (optional).

Instructions:
1. Cut the record case along the sides and top, leaving only the bottom connected.

2. Turn the record case inside out so you can trace the template onto the backside. Lay the file folder template around the case, and trace it with a pencil.

3. Cut along the template lines on the record case, and erase remaining pencil lines when you’re finished.

Other Ideas:
If the image on the record case isn’t in a nice place to line up the template at the bottom of the case, here’ s a suggestion. Line up the template where you want it. Trace and cut the bottom of the record case. Use clear packing tape to keep the two sides together.

If the record images are ugly all together, either use the white inside of the record case for the outside of the file folder, or cover the file folder with fun paper like wallpaper. To do this, completely cut out your record case into a file folder. Use spray adhesive (or another favorite paper adhesive) and spray it on the record case. Lie the case on the wallpaper. Use an craft knife to cut the wallpaper flush with the file folder.

What a great idea! Now if I can only get my husband to let me use the old album covers (that are sitting in a pile in our basement!)
So cool! I love how simple and stylish this is – and what a great way to preserve some old memories. Thanks for sharing!
