Great pictorial on taking a sweater apart! It's one of the things I love to do most and find destroying something to make it into something beautiful is very therapeutic. Good luck on future sweaters!

Wow, thanks for the compliment. Honestly it only took about 20 minutes to get that sleeve off the sweater. Not much longer than it would take to ball up a skein of yarn, OK, well maybe about twice as long, but the sweater was free. :)

I have to say I stopped by looking at your mod podge back to school tutorial and snuck a peak at your sidebar for this project. I do not have the amazing patience that you do, nor the "out of the box" thinking that makes you so creative.....Wow! I thought I was thrifty, but I am sticking to the the simpler projects, but wanted to say how much I envy your crafty thriftyness! Amazing!

I love owning unusable sweaters. I can't wait to make some scarves and socks out of the wool and other fibers I have laying around here.

I went on a total craze a while back and picked up things at a nearby Goodwill Outlet (the last call for Goodwill goods, meaning there's a lot of yucky stained stuff and things with holes, but some perfectly wonderful things for this purpose) for a song.

I was knitting with cashmere and angora and other luxury yarns that I could never have afforded.

(if I couldn't be bothered to unravel something, I could toss it into the washer and use the felted fabric in other projects)

Fun! I will have to look through my stash and send some fun yarns home with Rob next week! By then you will have had the baby and prob won't have time though... LOL! I am a yarn-a-holic!! My stash is out of control! LOL!! I have found that at Pat Catans they will sell Lion Brand "Homespun" yarns, they are so pretty!! And you get 3 skeins (1 lb) for like $5, I have since been knitting with more wool and handspun yarns from swapping my buttons! I still love how children's items look with the Lion Brand Homespun though.
