I am not an expert pattern sewer. I mostly recon stuff or make it up from scratch. But the other day I saw a dress that I really wanted to make, and I didn’t want to mess it up. So I looked through the pattern books at my local big box fabric store until I came to something from Burda that was very similar.

I am planning to change the pattern a little bit. Since I’m going to be a nursing mother (and since zippers are cool) I’m going to add an exposed zipper front opening that will extend to the drop waist. I am also going to add box pleats, 2 in front and 2 in back, instead of just the one in front center so that it is more like the inspiration dress. I will probably also add about 2 inches to the skirt length so I can wear it without feeling like I’m dressing too young for my age. Now I just need to pick a fabric….
