I Love Amigurumi

It’s official. I love amigurumi. The projects move along and make visible progress quickly. The yarn requirements are pretty small so I can splurge on fun colors just because. And best of all…
My kids love them! I had to wrestle this little pig away from Olivia, who was coloring Wilbur pictures and listening to Charlotte’s Web on Audible.com in order to get the picture of my finished pig.
I am looking for a good amigurumi pattern for shoes for babies. Anyone have any leads? I tried looking on google and mostly found granny-crochet patterns for booties. That’s not really what I have in mind.
CUTE piglet! I’m not sure what you’re asking for in amigurumi shoes for babies. Amigurumi is a japanese word for “knitted or crocheted doll,” so I’m not sure how “doll” fits into your request. But if you want crocheted slippers that sort of represent mary jane shoes or japanese house shoes (but still stay on a baby’s foot pretty well) try the link below. They’re easy and cute:

Well, I learned something today! Thanks Amy. I thought that amigurumi was the style of the fabric created by the tight crochet stitches. I didn’t realize it was the actually the doll that made the name.
Thanks for the pattern. I guess I am looking for something that is made with the tight stitches and sturdy fabric that the amigurumi animals had in the pattern book I was using.
My son saw this, he said “Auuhhh… I love the pig Mommy!” I guess I will have to give it a whirl…. LOL!! For some reason he always loved little pigs…
Ah, now I get what you mean! An understandable misinterpretation. (I can’t believe I used two big words in a row!) I don’t know of patterns with those tight crochet stitches, but crochet is such an adaptable art, I’m sure you could make up your own pattern in no time! Happy crafting!
