I was inspired to make this bird collage after reading the article Sketched & Torn Composition in Somerset Studio Magazine (March/April 2009; pg 83-85). I generally followed the instructions in the article…here’s what I did.
-I used old book pages & sketched out the bird & tree shapes and tore them just outside of the sketched outlines. I adhered the grass, then tree shapes to a 12″ x 12″ piece of scrapbook paper. Next I adhered some words to create the telephone line and then adhered the bird shapes. I used scrapbooking glue to adhere all the papers, although the article suggests gel medium.
-I used acrylic paints on the tree, grass & birds. After drying I used charcoal to sketch outlines & details.
-Finally I used Krylon Matte Finish to seal the paper.
