While on vacation in London my husband and I have been staying at the Church Street Hotel in Camberwell. The decor of the hotel is bright and thematic, intended to reflect a Spanish Church. There are all sorts of antique furniture and seemingly thrifted items all around. But my favorite decorative touches are the repurposed church items.
The first thing that caught my eye was the radiator vent covers. The mesh screen in the front resembles a confessional screen in a Roman Catholic church. Whether it is one, I’m not sure, but it absolutely goes with the theme.
Then in the lounge room, surrounded by Catholic icons and Spanish Crosses, are the long dining tables. They are attractively covered with oil cloth. But most decoratively unique are the wooden church chairs used for dining room seating. They have crosses carved in their backs, and hymnal racks on the back and are obviously from an old church.
Besides being a restful spot, this hotel really tickled my repurposing funny bone. I’m energized and ready to come back to the States and get back to working… in a few more days.

Love the setup of the dining area – especially the chairs!
Maybe when you get home, you can put more photos on the clever nesting flickr page. I’m very inspired when I see things from other countries.
