I needed my craft studio to be more work-flow condusive so I’ve been moving things around and organizing things. Right now I’m in the unfortunate everything is in shambles phase but things are coming along.
I have wanted to put carpet in there for some time, but we can’t afford it. I have tried different temporary options, like making a rag rug and such, but I haven’t liked anything enough to keep it permanent. Then on Saturday Colleen gave me about 40 carpet samples to take home that she had from the Zero Landfill event. I’ve been piecing them together, and trimming them to fit, into my main work space and I love the look of it. It’s haphazard, but mostly color neutral. Plus it’s free! I still need about 10 sqft of carpet to finish up the room so I plan on picking some up this friday at the Zero Landfill in Cleveland.
After I finish up piecing it together I will be checking back to Colleen’s carpet square tutorial from the spring. I don’t want the carpet to adhere to the floor in case I feel like changing it up again, but I also want to be able to scoot my chair in and out without having to put all the squares back in place.
Good luck with your craft space reorganization! I and some other members of my etsygreetingsteam got together and challenged each other to a four-week crafty space makeover challenge, so it was fun running into this post (I’ve been slowly going through your backlog — love your blog! I will follow…).
Anyway, I’ve been trying hard to recycle objects, whether from my own basement or from goodwill. It’s so amazing what a coat of fresh paint will to do a tired-looking thrift store find!
Anyway, don’t mean to spam you, but if you have time, check out the posts about my own makeover:
