For our next give-away, you can win a set of six seed packets (made from recycled tea bags) I made for the last tutorial. You’ll get garden beans, peas, spaghetti squash (a new favorite of mine), sage, onion, and cilantro, all in this paper-crafted glass jar. Just leave a comment on this post describing something new you’re trying in your garden this year. We’ll randomly choose a winner from the comments. Contest closes at 11pm on Tuesday, May 5.

Contest details: The winner will be notified by email on Wednesday, May 6. Winner pays shipping costs for the least expensive shipping method (unless you prefer something faster). You will be able to pay shipping costs via Paypal. Then I’ll send you the seeds so you can get busy in your garden or give them as a spring gift.
Cool idea! This year, we’re keeping the gardening small. We’re going to be painting the outside of our house, and adding some container plants for color to our front steps. We’re also going to be replacing a few unfortunate boxwoods along the walkway in the back of our house. Have not decided what the replacements will be yet….
Something new I’m planning in my garden this year is to dedicate one corner to my kids, mainly my 3 year old for him to do his ‘own thing’. This space will be dedicated to him for his plants to pull/weed/dig and just learn about being in the garden while I’m tending to everything else.
I’m hoping that by having his own section he’ll be more excited about gardening and he’ll get even more excited about watching the plants grown and change. Better yet, I won’t get all anxious when he’s pulling stuff, because it’s not in the ‘main’ sections of the garden.
So…pick me and he’ll grow / destroy some squash too
This is my first non-pregnant year living in our house, so this is all about a new beginning! Flowers in the front, and hopefully some veggies in the back – I am particularly interested in tomatoes!
Keeping the weeds under control!
Oh, you know the usual thing… weeds, and dandelions. I’m thinking about a few more chicken carcasses to feed to the raccoons….
But in all seriousness.
This year we are planting our garden at my mom’s house so we can have a much bigger garden. I decided I was going to plant melons this year. I have never grown melons and decided it was time to try. The seed are coming up so that is a start. At our house I am just planting a couple grape tomatoe plants, herbs, and a couple pepper plants.
This is such a cool idea ! I am really into my yard this year. And I’m going to start my own garden !

I can’t wait to try this idea…Maybe making scrap linen packets! I always love finding new and inexpensive ideas for gift giving! So, cute!
We’ve lived in our house for a year and the previous owners left a nice little plot of garden in our front yard. Last year, the “garden” was whatever wanted to sprout there. The only thing I recognized were chives and rhubarb (which we used for cooking AND to make the most DELICIOUS strawberry-rhubarb pie! *drool*)
This year, I wanted to start small in order to have a successful garden! We’re trying out cucumbers, summer squash, eggplant, and tomatoes (in addition to the chives and rhubarb that are back!). My toddler (2 years old) is having a blast helping out in “her” garden…so, this is something new that we’re both experiencing together! It’s a great morning routine to go out and water/pull weeds!
Veggies are new this year! We only have a tint patio, so we didn’t think we could grow anything but we are trying green beans & cucumbers. Yay!
spaghetti squash sounds so fun!

This is my first year in my own house to have a garden! This year I am doing everything in half barrels. This is the first year I have even planted cantelope!
Your tutorial is awesome. Thank you so much for this giveaway.
