Last night I read this wonderful interview with Faythe Livine, the maker of Handmade Nation, on Dwell’s website. I loved her insight on the DIY movement and its growth. I’ve been a “maker” (Levine’s term for the creative person) for a very long time, but only recently have I felt like I belonged to a community of people who value the personal creative process.

I wonder, though, if the reason I didn’t feel a part of a community was the lack of these large cyber social networks, or if the community is actually growing. Perhaps it was my confidence as a Maker that kept me from seeing the community. Whatever the reason, I am excited to be a part of this team, and enjoy the process of creating in a community.
