I am getting excited for the candle lanterns that Colleen is making in her tutorial this week. I have some citronella candles that I use to avoid the bugs in the summer on the front porch, but there are little fingers that want to play with the candles and I’ll be glad to have them out of reach.
To decorate the jars I wanted to decoupage some drieed flowers on the outside. I have looked and looked for a tutorial or instructions online for how to do this, and my search has come up short. I have learned things I already knew, like smash the flowers in a phone book. I have also learned that you can speed up the drying process by using a microwave. I plan to take these nicely flattened pansies and put them in the food dehydrator to dry them out.
I am not sure if it will work, but I think I’m just going to mod podge the flowers to the outside of the jar in the same fashion that you’d do tissue paper. Then if it seems to need a little more securing a coat of polyurethane would probably do the trick.
Has anyone done a similar craft as this? Are there any details that I’m overlooking?
