Bird Control- Save the Strawberries

I am so excited for our strawberries becoming ripe. There are a thousand of them out there, green and firm on the tiny vines and I check on them three times a day. Last year we had only a few because the plants were immature, and most of what we had was taken by birds. This year I want to make sure that our other garden pests (also known as my kids) get their fair share of the crop so I have hung CDs out on garden stakes to keeps the birds at bay. I have heard mixed reviews of the reflective bird deterrants, but since there are plenty of varieties of them available through gardening suppliers I thought it was worth giving this recycled version a try.

my neighbor uses the aluminum covers that come with chipotle’s to go containers. she puts them on string and hangs them on her sheppard hooks above her garden. similar idea I guess.
