More spring planning is going on in this Akron household. I have 4 casserole dishes with seedling trays sprouting seeds on my bookshelf as we speak and I am happy to announce 6 broccoli plants are 3 inches tall and a tray of pansies are sprouting as well.
I reuse the trays from the annuals I bought a few years ago to start my seedlings. I just wash them out and store them in my garage until the following spring.
The Green Parent blog has some really good ideas for gardeners starting seeds indoors who might not have seed trays to reuse like I do. Their ideas include raiding your recycle bin for yogurt tubs and milk cartons and using news paper lined aluminum cans as indoor pots. But the coolest idea by far is planting a seed in the cleaned out shell of a cracked egg. So smart! Zero waste, instant composting!
